Design Contest

Entries Due: June 8, 2026 at 4:00 PM EST
Winner Receives: $250

CONTEST CRITERIA:

  • The contest is limited to ALL POWELL COUNTY residents

  • Only one (1) submission per person is allowed

  • Submitted Flag designs must be accompanied by a 500-word maximum description of design

  • Submissions should follow the flag design guidelines below

  • All Contest Rules must be followed to be eligible for prize

HOW TO SUBMIT A DESIGN

  • Flag Contest Entry Forms may be picked up in person at Stanton City Hall during business hours or downloaded below.

  • The designs must be attached to the entry form at the time of submission

  • Entries are due by June 8, 2026 at 4:00 PM EST to the Stanton City Clerk

  • All flag designs must be submitted in physical form. Emailed/Electronic submissions are not accepted.

  • Late entries will not be accepted

  • Do not sign any artwork/design. Signed artwork/design will be disqualified

FIVE BASIC GUIDELINES/PRINCIPLES OF FLAG DESIGN

  • Keep it simple- the flag should be of simple design that is easily identifiable

  • Useful meaningful symbolism- The flag’s images, colors and patterns should relate to what it symbolizes

  • Use 2 or 3 basic colors- Limit the number of colors on the flag to three which contrast well and come from the standard color set

  • Lettering or seals- Avoid lettering or seals, with the exception of the approved phrase “City of Stanton”, which is optional

  • Be distinctive or be related- Avoid duplicating other flags, but use similarities to show connections
