Welcome to the City of Stanton. Located just minutes from the Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge, Stanton sits along the Cumberland Plateau at Exit 22 of the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway. Home to approximately 3,000 residents, Stanton proudly serves as the county seat of Powell County.

Over 15 years of professional planning and zoning experience

Ann Snowden leads the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring compliance with city regulations and assisting residents, contractors, and business owners throughout the development process.

All zoning inquiries, nuisance complaints, permit applications, and development requests begin with the Zoning Administrator.

Floodplain Management

The Floodplain Coordinator reviews proposed disturbances or construction within streams and designated floodplain areas inside city limits. Responsibilities include:

Floodplain development permit review
Compliance with floodplain regulations
Coordination with state and federal requirements

Building Inspection

The City of Stanton does not currently employ a local building inspector.
All commercial construction requires a permit through the Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings, and Construction.
